Our Story
Established in 1994, I have been the proud owner and director of Milestones Child Care for 20+ years. The center offers child care and pre-school programs for children ages 18 mos. to 5 years in an environment based on individual and family needs. Activities are designed to promote pro-social and emotional behavior, achievement of self-help skills, development of large and small muscle control, and intellectual skills both receptive and expressive. The program is designed to provide children with feelings of success, self-confidence, personal competencies, and self-esteem.

Classes
Preschool (older 3's and 4's)
Our mixed-age Preschoolers are busy, engaged learners who enjoy a wide variety of activities. They can be self-directed, self-motivated, creative and love to learn. Cooperative group projects are enjoyed as well as one-on-one learning with the teacher.
Our Preschool class participates in a Phonemic Awareness Early Literacy Program called Heggerty. This Early Pre-K Phonological Awareness curriculum introduces the skills of rhyme, initial phoneme isolation, and blending to 3's and 4's. Engaging in phonemic awareness instruction develops students’ understanding of sounds, and that knowledge directly impacts their future spelling and writing. They have fun while laying the groundwork for life-long literacy.
This mixed age group also participates in art, science, math, and motor skills activities together but divides into smaller groups based on age and readiness for our language arts program.
Our Preschool program provides children with the skills and confidence needed for kindergarten and beyond with a focus on problem-solving, responsive listening, language and writing skills, and social collaborative skills. Your child will learn effective communication, work in groups and independently, and develop a deeper understanding of their world. With our unique location close to Frick Park, our neighborhood and nature are a big part of our learning environment.
Blue Room
At 30 months and up, the Blue Room is a time of exploration, active play, independence, and group cooperation. Our center-based classroom fosters a sense of both autonomy and partnership as they learn to care for and create in their space.
Math concepts and letter sounds are introduced in games, art, and activities while still emphasizing learning through play. This is also a time for forming friendships, learning about problem solving, and developing self-help skills. When age ready, this group also participates in the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness curriculum, a fast paced, fun program that introduces the building blocks for literacy.
Yellow Room
Our youngest group, starting at 18 months of age. The Yellow Room program has a strong focus on social-emotional and language skills. Opportunities to explore and learn in a fun, nurturing, and safe environment provide these toddlers with the sense of security and confidence that come with continuity. Repetition is the foundation of learning at this age. Music and movement also play a big role for our Yellow Room friends with daily songs, fingerplays, and dancing.
